Welcome to Bexley Beavers – a charity run entirely by volunteers providing an accessible weekly swimming session for anyone with a permanent or temporary disability.

Family members and carers are encouraged to join the swimming sessions for which we have exclusive use of both pools with a hoist in the large pool. This provides a safe space and away from the general public.

Our Sessions

Held every Friday at Crook Log Leisure Centre, Brampton Road, Bexleyheath, from 6pm to 7.00pm and are for the whole family to enjoy some downtime together – a unique opportunity to relax in the water.

Our volunteer lifeguards are fully qualified by the Royal Life Saving Society to keep you safe.

There are no membership fees involved, but as we do have to pay the commercial rate to hire the pool, we ask for a small voluntary donation at the door each week.

BASIC RULES

We would like to remind you of our basic rules to make our swimming sessions safe and pleasant for everyone (in addition to all Crook Log Leisure Centre rules and regulations):-
  1. Children and non-swimmers must be accompanied in the water at all times by a parent, carer or responsible sibling.
  2. Any member wishing to swim backstroke must do so in the swimming lanes only.
  3. All members must adhere to lifeguards’ decisions.

If you would like more information, why don’t you pay us a visit one Friday evening and see what we get up to or take a look at this short video.

Chris Deering MBE
28th September 1936 to 12th April 2026

Sadly, Chris was too poorly to be presented with his MBE at an official ceremony, but instead was presented with it by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Kent, The Lady Colgrain, at his home in Gillingham on the 16th February, with a small gathering of friends and family.
